Our custom beef is for LOCAL PICK UP ONLY, we do not have any shipping options. Reservation fee only on a Custom 1/4 beef to be purchased for $4.25/lb hanging weight with separate fees to Pickrell Meat Locker for processing. If you want a half beef simply add 2 reservations to your cart.

Hanging weight for a quarter is typically around 150- 175lbs. Take home amount of beef ends up being approximately 65% of hanging weight. This ends up being around 100lbs of finished beef for your home freezer. 

Please note: There is only ONE heart, liver, tongue, oxtail and a limited amount of tallow. These are only available when you buy a WHOLE BEEF. To schedule a whole beef, contact the farm. If you want a 1/2 beef, please add 2 - 1/4 beef reservations. We do offer these items to meat herdshare members in our Farmers Market Shop.

Your cost for custom beef, cut and packaged how you choose, will be approximately $9 per pound (give or take depending on your processing choices). That includes everything from hamburger to premium steaks! 

For reference the ground beef in our farmers market shop is available through our herdshare for $8.95/lb and all other cuts go up from there.

Total payment for meat, minus reservation fee, will be due to LRF based on the specific weight of your quarter within a week of locker drop off date. You will also have have a one payment to the meat locker for processing and packaging your beef at the time of pick up 4-6 weeks later.

Your custom cutting instructions must be selected via online ordering here through Pickrells online system.

 • Beef to be delivered to the locker on the date option chosen

 • Processing fees due to Pickrell Meat Locker at time of pickup, approximately 4-6 weeks after drop off. Butcher fees on a 1/4 beef are typically $250 and will vary depending on the cut and packaging choices you make. Specialty items like meat sticks or jerky will cost more and raise your processing fees. All fees are listed on Pickrells website link. Meat must be picked up within 5 business days of notification it’s ready. Meat will need to be picked up at

First time, very easy process

Was hesitant to purchase a portion of beef and started looking into it. The process was explained well. Easy online ordering picking cuts and for the most part I only wanted steak and ground beef so that’s exactly what I ordered. Will do it again.

Great beef at a great price

With a little planning, you can get great beef and all the good cuts. Process was easy, and quality of the meat is fantastic! It is challenging to keep my 14 year old from making steak twice a week (or more).
